Temeljno opredjeljenje
In his reflections in this booklet, Prof. Heribert Muhlen calmly and decisively enters into the fundamental question of Christian life and today's pastoral care, without overlooking the crisis in which we find ourselves.
He rightly emphasizes that in the history of salvation, and in our lives, there is a permanent mutual relationship — a dialogue: the Word of God and the offer of salvation on the one hand, and our listening and acceptance of that Word on the other. Without this encounter and acceptance of the Word of God on our human side, the history of salvation cannot begin in the life of an individual or in a community. Only at this initial, fundamental stage can the growth of salvation continue in us... Muhlen also rightly emphasizes that this step of fundamental commitment must be made in such a way that it encompasses human corporeality: spirit, soul and body, as well as the human communal dimension, so that it is publicly manifested in the Church and with the Church. This is in fact a step of complete acceptance of baptism before the community and in the community of the Church. This booklet presents to us a reflection on this fundamental commitment and the concrete forms of offering this commitment. Only after this step does catechesis have its meaning and its place.
