Kratki roman „Matko na štakama“ posvećen je deci stradaloj u saobraćaju.

Priča o saobraćajnoj nesreći i dugotrajnom oporavku ispričana je u prvom licu od strane sedmogodišnjeg dečaka koji je teško povređen kada ga je udario automobil na ulici. Uz dečaka Matka, protagonisti su njegovi roditelji, a pojavljuje se i niz epizodnih likova, od lekara i osoblja u dečjoj bolnici i banji, do dece iz Matkovog razreda i, posebno, teško bolesne dece, od kojih su mnoga poginula u saobraćajnim nesrećama i to teže od malog Matka. U hrvatskoj dečjoj književnosti nikada nije postojala knjiga sa takvom temom, koja je nažalost danas veoma aktuelna.
