Dječak sa zlatnim pantalonama

Dječak sa zlatnim pantalonama

Max Lundgren

The novel emphasizes how even good can have bad consequences when taken out of proportion, and that responsibility, morality, and honesty are more important than wealth itself.

The main character of the novel is a boy, Mats Nilsson, who one day finds something incredible in his old trousers: he can take an infinite amount of money out of his pockets. At first, he is delighted and uses the money for small wishes – toys, snacks, small gifts. But he soon starts thinking about how he could do good, so he helps the poor and gives gifts to the needy. However, after the initial delight, Mats realizes that unlimited money also brings unexpected problems. Adults start asking questions, the police investigate the “mysterious source” of the money, and the media becomes increasingly suspicious. Mats faces pressure, fear, and a responsibility he did not expect. His good intentions lead to trouble as people start taking advantage of the generosity they do not understand. In the end, Mats realizes that his power carries too much responsibility for the child, and he tries to stop the source of the money and return to a normal life.
