Ujed anđela

Ujed anđela

Pavel Krusanov

Before us is a sociopolitical novel with a complex anti-utopian vision, which with its mature, colorful, charismatic and striking characters, as well as the original composition, not without an ironic deviation, gives a fresco of an alternative developmen

The rise of the main character, from an orphan and a stepchild, to a successful warrior and military leader and emperor, takes place partly according to the patterns of myth and partly according to Nostradamus' prophecy. His fabulously inherited planetary mission will result in a new world war, an alliance of Russia, China (the Celestial Empire) and the Balkan states, and many other bizarre events. Krusanov's language is witty and crystal-precise. The decline of the empire is depicted using a combination of magical realism, journalistic verisimilitude and cinematic verism. Perhaps it is an ideal combination of Russian literary heritage and pure modernism. The novel The Angel's Bite is a literary sensation in the truest sense.
