The book is a concise but also very clear, systematic overview of the Reformation: how it arose and how it developed over the course of more than four centuries, branching out from its initial roots often in various directions.
In it, the author attempts to assess the impact of the Reformation on a European and global scale, without ignoring historical misunderstandings, omissions or even stumbles, and equally by outlining the current state and perspectives. The editorial board of the "Handy Encyclopedia of Faith" considered it appropriate to choose a Protestant author to present the history of Protestantism. However, if some of the author's judgments or claims may bother an individual reader with a different sense of Christian tradition, perhaps this is an opportunity for a deeper understanding and assessment of historical facts.
