Lovkinja

Kate Quinn

A thrilling historical thriller about the hunt for a Nazi war criminal known as the Huntress. Three fates intertwine: a Russian pilot named Night Witch, a British journalist, and a young American woman searching for justice after World War II.

The Huntress (2019) is a stand-alone historical novel by American author Kate Quinn, set in three timelines and following three main characters. The bold and fearless Russian Nina Markova grew up in icy Siberia dreaming of flying. She joins the legendary Soviet female bomber regiment The Night Witches. After falling behind enemy lines, she comes face to face with a cruel Nazi assassin known as The Huntress (die Jägerin).

British war correspondent Ian Graham, traumatized by the horrors of war, becomes a Nazi hunter. His personal motive is to find the Huntress who killed his brother in cold blood. He is joined on the hunt by Nina, the only person to survive her encounter.

The third story follows a young American woman Jordan McBride in 1950s Boston, whose father falls in love with a mysterious Austrian woman Anneliese. Jordan slowly discovers that her new stepmother may be hiding a dark past.

Kate Quinn masterfully combines elements of thriller, historical drama, and character novel. The book is rich in suspense, strong female characters, and a precise depiction of a post-war world in which justice is not easily achieved. The Huntress is a thrilling, emotional, and hard-to-put-down work that explores themes of revenge, redemption, and courage.
