Andrija Matijaš Pauk: Heroj u ratu - hrvatski ponos u miru

Petra Šimić

The exhibition catalog presents the life and war journey of Andrija Matijaš Pauk, one of the most famous Croatian commanders, highlighting his contribution to the defense of Croatia in the Homeland War.

Andrija Matijaš Pauk: Hero in War – Croatian Pride in Peace is the exhibition catalogue by Petra Šimić. The catalogue accompanies the exhibition of the same name dedicated to Andrija Matijaš Pauk, the legendary deputy commander of the 4th Guards Brigade and one of the most prominent Croatian officers from the Homeland War.

The work chronologically depicts his war journey from the first days of the defense of Croatia in 1991, through participation in operations Maslenica, Winter ’94, Skok 1, Skok 2 and Summer ’95, to the key role in Operation Storm and the final battles in Operation Southern Move, during which he was killed leading his unit.

The catalogue contains expert texts, photographs, documents and museum objects that testify to Pauk’s life, military abilities and personal example of courage. Special attention is paid to his leadership, loyalty to his comrades and role in the most important liberation operations of the Croatian Army.

In addition to providing a biographical account of a war hero, the publication contributes to preserving the memory of the Homeland War and the people who participated in the creation of an independent Croatian state. Due to its documentary value and rich illustrations, the catalogue represents a valuable source for studying recent Croatian history.
