Rudžer Bošković: Građa, knjiga I

Mirko Deanović, Josip Torbarina, Branimir Truhelka

The collection of works on Ruđer Bošković includes his letters, literary connections with the English, and biographical and scientific contributions. It is an important source for studying the life and work of the great scientist.

The book Rudžer Bošković – Materials, Book I represents one of the most significant works dedicated to the research of the life and work of Rudžer Josip Bošković (1711–1787), one of the most prominent scholars of Croatian and European history. The publication is conceived as a collection of original material and scientific contributions that shed light on various aspects of Bošković's activities, from private correspondence to his intellectual and cultural connections.

The content of the book includes the work of M. Deanović on eleven of Bošković's letters from France, which provides valuable insight into the scholar's contacts and activities in European intellectual circles. J. Torbarina analyzes Bošković's connections with English writers and his place in the cultural environment of the time. The most extensive part of the book is the study by B. Truhelka, which traces Bošković's life path through several chapters – from his youth and first scientific works, through his stay in Milan, to the last years of his life.

The work has great documentary and historiographical value because it brings together sources and expert analyses that contribute to a better understanding of Bošković's scientific, cultural and social significance. It is intended for researchers, students and all interested readers who want to learn about the life and legacy of one of the greatest minds of the 18th century.
