Prijan Lovro
Prijan Lovro by August Šenoa is a story about a gifted but unhappy young man whose poverty, social circumstances, and disappointments gradually lead him towards a breakdown in life and a tragic fate.
The Pleasant Lovro by August Šenoa is a realistic short story in which, through the fate of a young intellectual, the difficult position of a man who, despite his talent and education, fails to achieve success in society is depicted. Lovro is a sensitive, intelligent and ambitious young man, but poverty, an insecure existence and a series of personal disappointments gradually break him. In this short story, Šenoa does not only depict an individual tragedy, but also a broader social reality - the attitude towards a poor educated man, injustice, loneliness and the powerlessness of the individual in the face of circumstances.
The work is permeated with compassion and criticism of society, and Lovro's fate acts as a warning about how insufficient talent and honesty are if a person does not have the support of his environment and life stability.
