Vízbe vesző nyomokon: Fejezetek a Dráva-szög történetéből
A historical and local history book about Baranja from Roman times to modern times, through essays about battles, writers, villages, language and traditions, with black and white photographs.
Vízbe vesző nyomokon: Fejezetek a Baranjskog trokuta történetéből by Baranyai Júlia is a historical and regional work in Hungarian that presents the past of the Baranjskog triangle and Baranya from ancient times to modern times through a series of essays and studies. This is the second, expanded edition that brings together topics from local history, cultural heritage, literature, social life and the development of settlements.
The book covers a wide range of topics: from the Roman legions, Huns, Avars, Khazars, Szekels and Slavs, through the Renaissance writers of Baranya and important names such as Janus Pannonius, to the period of the Ottoman conquests, the Battle of Mohács, the Reformation and life under Ottoman rule. Later chapters deal with the reconstruction after the Ottomans, population censuses, the villages of the Baranjskog triangle, local traditions, dialect and forgotten regional writers.
The work has a distinct documentary and local character, as it focuses on lesser-known people, places and events that together form the historical identity of the region. At the end, there is a list of illustrations and sources. The book is illustrated with black and white photographs, which further emphasize its documentary value. It is suitable for lovers of the history of Baranja, the Baranja Triangle, local cultural heritage and regional literature.
