Četvrta knjiga: O junačkim djelima i mudrim riječima dobroga Pantagruela

Četvrta knjiga: O junačkim djelima i mudrim riječima dobroga Pantagruela

François Rabelais

The fourth book about the adventures of Gargantua and Pantagruel, a classic work of world literature, a work of furious rhythm and wacky genius, a grandiose grotesque imbued with a vitalistic worldview about the miraculous adventures and deeds of two gian

Pantagruelism, or another name for such a worldview, is a fictional-encyclopedic consequence of Rabelais's passionate interest in the people around him and what they do in their godly imperfection. Around the real, everyday Pantagruelism, whose main guiding thought is: to be calm, healthy, joyful and, above all, full and satisfied - Rabelais builds a work that is both erudite and parodic, at the same time a completely frivolous and serious thing, a book of amazing imagination, obscene comedy and unimaginable witticisms, a playful language seasoned with juicy curses and unsurpassed wordplay. On the other hand, Rabelais also offers a spiritual Pantagruelism that is nurtured on a thorough knowledge of the ancient literary and cultural heritage and anti-dogmatic thinking: in this sense, Rabelais speaks almost moralistically about the most important issues of the humanist tradition.
