Jennifer Hillier

A tense psychological thriller by Jennifer Hillier. After her four-year-old son is kidnapped, mother Marin hires a private investigator to search for the truth, but uncovers her husband's secrets and becomes entangled in a dark web of revenge.

"Little Secrets" (Croatian translation published by Mozaika knjiga) is an extremely tense, emotionally charged and multi-layered psychological thriller by author Jennifer Hillier. The story follows Marin Machado, a woman who seemingly has it all — a successful career, a wealthy and handsome husband Derek, and a beloved four-year-old son Sebastian. However, her perfect life turns into a nightmare in an instant when Sebastian is kidnapped in broad daylight at a busy market. A year later, the official police investigation has completely stopped, and Marin is emotionally devastated and obsessed with the search for the truth. In order to find her son, Marin hires a private investigator, but instead of clues about the kidnapping, she discovers a shocking truth: her husband Derek is having an affair with a younger woman named Kenzie. Faced with betrayal and the loss of everything that was important to her, Marin's grief is replaced by a dangerous, relentless desire for revenge and control. The author, with an exceptional sense of dynamics, weaves a web of lies, manipulation and unexpected twists in which each character has their own dark motives and hidden intentions. Written in a fast, rhythmic and extremely emotional style, this book deeply analyzes the themes of maternal love, mourning, marital ruptures and the extreme limits to which a person is willing to go to protect the most beloved. "Little Secrets" is a superb example of a modern thriller that keeps the reader in complete suspense until the very end.
