Flood – kao poplava

Flood – kao poplava

Andrew Vachss

A dark noir novel by Andrew Vachss. The first case of private investigator Burke, who at the urging of the mysterious Flood enters the dangerous New York underworld to find and punish a sadistic predator.

"Flood" (Flood, published as part of the cult series by the cult American writer, lawyer and children's rights activist Andrew Vachss) is an uncompromising, dark and fierce creation of the modern neo-noir genre. The novel introduces readers to the character of Burke - an ex-con, an expert in surviving dangerous city streets and a private investigator without an official license who works in the darkest, forgotten corners of New York. The plot begins when Burke is hired by a mysterious, cold and extremely dangerous woman named Flood. Her mission is to avenge the brutal murder and abuse of a young girl and find a sadistic predator who escapes justice. To track down the criminal, Burke gathers his unusual but loyal team from the underworld - renegades, outlaws and dangerous technology and weapons experts. The author depicts the world of child exploitation, street crime, corruption and dangers lurking on both sides of the law with exceptional authenticity and without embellishment. Through fast pace and rough, clipped dialogue, Vachss explores the boundaries between justice and revenge. Written in a specific, hard and extremely atmospheric style, this book became the foundation of Vachss' recognizable literary oeuvre. "Flood - like a flood" is not only a suspenseful crime novel, but also a strong, uncompromising moral study of protecting the most vulnerable in society.

In terms of genre, the novel is a combination of fantasy and crime. As in some earlier novels, the novelist touched on certain themes that "hang" in the air. It would be said that the writer anticipates real events.
