Unomeron: priča jednog dana

Unomeron: priča jednog dana

Ljubica Biljan

“Unomeron: The Story of One Day” tells the story of one day of an abused woman in which she finally finds a way out.

"Unomeron: The Story of a Day" (published in 2021) is an emotional and layered prose work by Croatian writer Ljubica Biljan. The title of the novel, derived from the Greek word monomeron (one-day, one-day event), clearly indicates the specific composition of this story: the entire plot is set within the framework of just twenty-four hours, within which entire lives, destinies and repressed family emotions are refracted. Through that single day, the author skillfully opens a window into the past and the inner world of her characters. The main characters face key life crossroads, unexpected encounters and decisions that radically change their everyday lives. Through the technique of retrospection, memories, internal monologues and intense dialogues, long-standing family secrets, repressed traumas, unhealed loves and losses emerge. Despite the difficult themes and emotional burdens that the characters carry, the novel conveys a powerful message about the importance of forgiveness, hope for a new beginning, and the unbreakable connection between people. Written in a fluent, extremely warm, picturesque, and psychologically nuanced style, this book holds the reader's attention from the first page to the last. "Unomeron: The Story of a Day" is a moving and deeply humane novel that reminds us that in just one day, under the burden of truth and love, our entire world can be transformed and find its full meaning.
