Polusvijet : Zima

Rod Rees

The first part of the series introduces us to Half-World, a virtual hell in the middle of a religious war. Investigator Ella Thomas enters the simulation to rescue the president's daughter, but the mission turns into a trap.

Half-World: Winter is a fantastic cyberpunk novel by Rod Rees and the first installment of a tense four-part series. The story unfolds in Half-World, the most complex computer simulation ever created, built for the US military to train soldiers in conditions of ceaseless urban warfare. This digital world is inhabited by thirty million computer-generated residents unaware that they are part of the matrix, and it is ruled by digital simulations of some of history's most notorious figures and tyrants. An eternal, bleak winter reigns within the simulation, and society is fractured and torn apart by bloody religious conflicts. The story begins when Heyford Drake, the daughter of the US Vice President, becomes trapped in Half-World. Young and fearless Ella Thomas is hired to secretly enter this virtual nightmare and locate the missing girl. However, the mission soon turns into a fight for survival. Ella discovers that the rules of Half-World are far more dangerous than she imagined and that a mistake within the simulation results in real death. As she navigates dark streets, political intrigue, and fanatical cults, she begins to realize she has been drawn into a web of conspiracy that goes far beyond a mere military simulation.
