During a spiritualist séance in a snowbound English village, the death of Captain Trevelyan is foretold. When the prophecy comes true, a murder investigation begins—one full of secrets and unexpected twists.

The Sittaford Mystery is a crime novel by British author Agatha Christie, first published in 1931. The story is set in the remote English village of Sittaford, in the Dartmoor region, during a cold winter and a severe snowstorm.

In a house rented by Mrs. Willett and her daughter Violet, six people gather for a séance. What begins as a seemingly harmless pastime turns into a terrifying event when a mysterious message announces that Captain Trevelyan has been murdered. His friend, Major Burnaby, braves the blizzard to check on him and discovers that the Captain is indeed dead.

Inspector Narracott takes charge of the investigation, and suspicion soon falls upon the Captain’s nephew, James Pearson, who is facing financial difficulties—providing a potential motive for murder. His fiancée, the determined and sharp-witted Emily Trefusis, is convinced of his innocence and begins her own investigation with the help of a journalist named Charles Enderby.

As hidden connections, family secrets, and conflicting testimonies come to light, it becomes clear that almost everyone is hiding something. The novel skillfully weaves together a mysterious murder, red herrings, psychological tension, and an air of the supernatural.

The work is a classic example of a British detective novel from the "Golden Age," featuring an ingenious protagonist and an unexpected resolution.
