Teka 6 — tekstovi/kritika
An issue exploring theatre, communication and audiences, with Suvin on the Paris Commune and contributions on theatre history, Genette’s theory and literary criticism.
Published in autumn 1974, issue six of Teka brings together theatre theory, communication and literary criticism. The contributions highlighted on the cover address the social conditions of artistic practice, historical approaches to theatre and the role of audiences.
Darko Suvin’s Zakon o kazalištu Pariške komune ili organizaciono posredovanje introduces the relationship between theatre, its organisation and a revolutionary social context. Brečić’s Kazališna povijesna kategorema takes a historical approach to theatre, while Škiljan’s Kazalište i komunikacija foregrounds the communicative dimension of performance. Together with Sperber’s O publici, these contributions form a related group concerned with performance, spectatorship and theatre’s social framework.
The cover also highlights Tarle’s Figure Gérarda Genettea, extending the issue’s interests into literary theory, and Katušić’s Antiteze Nikole Tomasea. Theatre studies thus sit alongside broader questions of literary interpretation and critical method.
The issue will interest readers of theatre studies, literary theory and cultural history as a record of theoretical debate in the 1970s, particularly approaches to the relationship between art and its reception.
