Harnessed in this story-telling and journalistic yoke, the author writes day after day, and publishes "Countess Nero" and "Malleus maleficarum" on the eve of World War I (1913-1914). On June 18, 1918, a dramatization of the popular novel "The Greek Witch" by the writer Marija Jurić Zagorka was performed at the National Theater in Zagreb. The theater management knew exactly that the work would be an unprecedented success on stage as well. The story about the persecution of witches in Zagreb is dressed up by the author in a romantic adventure outfit. The work made a great contribution to the literacy of our people and beyond the borders of Croatia.
