Povijest senjskih Uskoka

Bare Poparić

The book "History of the Senjski Uskoks" by Bara Poparić presents a detailed historical analysis of one of the most famous military and naval groups of the Croatian past - the Senjski Uskoks.

The work explores the role of the leap in the defense of the borders of the Habsburg Monarchy during the 16th and 17th centuries, especially against the Ottomans and the Venetian Republic. The Uskoks were known for their courage, combativeness and guerilla warfare, and their base, Senj, became a symbol of resistance and heroism. Poparić describes in detail the social, military and political context of the activities of the uskos, as well as their conflicts with the Venetians, which ended with a peace agreement in 1617, after which the uskos were prohibited from further action. The book is a valuable contribution to Croatian historiography, highlighting the importance of the leap in preserving Croatian identity and European space.
