Methuselah's Children" (1958) has the motif of longevity at the center of its plot. A future, civilized and well-controlled society discovers that some of its members possess the "secret" of longevity. Suddenly, this society is ready to trample all its civilizational considerations in an effort to obtain the "secret ". The result is the escape of the long-lived into interstellar space.
