Children of Methuselah is a science fiction novel by the American writer Robert A. Heinlein. Originally serialized in Astounding Science Fiction in the 1941 editions, it was expanded into a novel in 1958. The novel is part of Heinlein's Future History ser

Methuselah's Children" (1958) has the motif of longevity at the center of its plot. A future, civilized and well-controlled society discovers that some of its members possess the "secret" of longevity. Suddenly, this society is ready to trample all its civilizational considerations in an effort to obtain the "secret ". The result is the escape of the long-lived into interstellar space.
