Spasitelj
A Salvation Army official is murdered during a concert in Oslo before Christmas. Inspector Harry Hole uncovers the killer, whose roots and wartime past lead directly to Croatian exiles.
The sixth installment of the famous series about Inspector Harry Hole introduces readers to a cold, snow-covered Oslo before Christmas. While the Salvation Army orchestra plays in the street, a professional killer kills one of its officials in cold blood. Inspector Harry Hole takes over the case and soon realizes that the target was not the real one and that the clues lead in completely unexpected directions.
The investigation quickly turns into a complex international search when the center of events is Croatian exiles and dark secrets arising from the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. As the cold grips the city and the killer patiently prepares to correct the mistake, Harry struggles with his own traumas, alcohol and intrigues within the police ranks. "The Savior" is a tense, dark and psychologically layered crime novel in which Jo Nesbø superbly explores the themes of redemption, revenge and guilt, skillfully combining the harsh Nordic reality with the dramatic echoes of the Balkan wars.
