Roman Teofila Gotjea, objavljen 1863. To je avanturistička priča smeštena u Francusku 17. veka, koja kombinuje romantiku, humor i viteštvo sa elementima pozorišta i društvene satire.

Kapetan Frakas je uzbudljiva priča o osiromašenom plemiću koji se pridružuje putujućoj glumačkoj trupi, a zatim doživljava niz neobičnih i opasnih avantura. Dramatične ljubavne veze, brojni mačevalački dueli, hajke, otmice i nepredvidivi obrti samo su neki od razloga da sa zadovoljstvom pročitate ovu knjigu.

U više navrata snimljeni su veoma uspešni avanturistički filmovi po romanu Kapetan Frakas. Tekst je praćen izvanrednim ilustracijama Gistava Dorea.
