„Crno jagnje i sivi soko“, najznačajnije djelo Rebecce West, njen opširni putopis o bivšoj Jugoslaviji iz 1941. Izlazak ove knjige pratio je veliki interes kako čitatelja tako i kritičara.

Više od šezdeset godina putopis Rebecce West ne gubi na popularnosti. O njoj se pisalo kao o jednoj od »velikih knjiga duhovne pobune protiv dvadesetog stoljeća«, kao o "monumentalnoj kronici" i njenoj "ljubavnoj aferi" s Jugoslavijom, koja podsjeća na Hemingwayev zanos Španjolskom.

Viđeni tuđim očima, mudrim pogledom žene koja je mnogo znala o svom vremenu, dobili smo priliku da stvaralaštvo, geopolitički položaj i borbu za opstanak na balkanskoj vjetrometini shvatimo kao rijetko bogatstvo, koje vrijedi njegovati i s ponosom predstavljati drugima.
