Striving to first describe the places he visits and the people he encounters, during his narrative excursions, readers are presented with reflections on important chapters of history, culture and literature. Zebald is a writer who brings elements of autobiography, myth, historical records and political thoughts into the domain of fiction and non-fiction with magical skill and a measured essayistic approach, accompanied by his photographs and drawings.
