Unplugged
Eric Clapton's famous acoustic live album from 1992 features a moving and unforgettable performance of "Tears in Heaven" and timeless blues and rock classics in an intimate, completely stripped-down version.
Released in August 1992, “Unplugged” is a cult concert album by English guitarist Eric Clapton, recorded live in front of an intimate audience at Bray Studios for the famous MTV television series. This legendary performance redefined his career in the early 1990s, showcasing raw musical emotion, superb singer-songwriter skills and an unbreakable connection to acoustic blues. The release became the best-selling live album of all time and won six Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
The musical content brings a perfect balance between extremely emotional original songs and imaginative covers of blues standards. The heart of the album is the poignant ballad “Tears in Heaven”, dedicated to his tragically deceased son, and a slowed-down, relaxed acoustic version of his rock classic “Layla”. In addition, the album abounds with virtuoso guitar parts in performances of songs such as “Running on Faith” and “Before You Accuse Me”.
"Unplugged" remains one of the most important and influential acoustic works in the history of modern music. This CD release is an indispensable and invaluable copy for all collectors, lovers of acoustic guitar, blues and top rock.
