Velikani likovne umjetnosti #20: Albrecht Dürer - Genij njemačke renesanse

Velikani likovne umjetnosti #20: Albrecht Dürer - Genij njemačke renesanse

Norbert Wolf

Each book in Taschen's Basic Art series contains a detailed chronological summary of the artist's life and work, covering the artist's cultural and historical significance, approximately 100 color illustrations with explanations, and a brief biography.

In his book Albrecht Dürer – The Genius of the German Renaissance, Norbert Wolf presents Dürer (1471–1528) as a key figure of the Northern European Renaissance. Dürer was an exceptionally talented painter, printmaker and art theorist, known for his precision, deep symbolism and technical virtuosity. Wolf analyses his most important works – from famous copperplate engravings such as the Apocalypse, to paintings such as the Self-Portrait and Adam and Eve. Special attention is paid to his travels to Italy, where he adopted Renaissance principles of perspective and proportion and combined them with German detail. The author highlights Dürer as a bridge between medieval and modern art and as a thinker whose treatises on art profoundly influenced later generations.
