The monograph Sky over Osijek is intended as a collection of intimate writings about the city on the Drava River, Osijek. The authors of the published texts are mostly writers who live in Osijek or have once passed through Osijek and then often visit it.

Sky over Osijek: Intimate Writings is a representative collection that brings together texts by several authors connected to Osijek, prepared under the expert guidance of prof. dr. sc. Helena Sablić Tomić. The book brings together a series of short essays, diary entries and lyrical prose in which authors from different generations and poetics return to their city, reflecting on it through personal experiences, emotions and memories.

Osijek appears in the book not only as a topographical framework, but as a living tissue that shapes identity and a sense of belonging. Each entry provides a fragment of an intimate portrait of the city – from walks along the Drava River and motifs of the Fortress, to the sounds and smells that make up its quiet everyday life. The basic tone of the collection is reflective and lyrical, and the style of the author and editor combines documentary and poetic, creating a sense of warmth and closeness.

Helena Sablić Tomić, who systematically researches Slavonian literature and autobiographical forms in her scientific and critical work, confirms with this book her commitment to Osijek's cultural heritage and the importance of literature as a means of preserving the identity of a place. Sky over Osijek thus becomes an intimate anthology of the city – a fusion of literary memory, emotion, and duration.
