Hope, published in 1937, is one of the most significant works of André Malraux and an important novel about the Spanish Civil War. The author, who himself participated in the conflict on the side of the Republicans, bases the work on his own experiences, creating a powerful testimony about war, political ideals and human destiny.

The plot follows a group of fighters of different nationalities and social strata who fight against the Francoist forces.
