Sto remek-djela, Pisana riječ u Hrvatskoj

Radoslav Katičić, Slobodan Novak, Anica Ribičić-Županić

"One Hundred Masterpieces: The Written Word in Croatia" is a catalogue of the exhibition of the same name held in 1986, which presents an overview of the most important monuments of Croatian literacy.

The authors have selected one hundred key works that illustrate the development of the written word in Croatia, from the early Middle Ages to the modern era.

The publication includes a variety of texts written in the Glagolitic, Latin and Croatian Cyrillic scripts, as well as in Croatian, Latin and Old Church Slavonic. Among the prominent works are the Bašćanska ploča, the Vinodol Code, the Missal according to the law of the Roman court and Marulić's Judith. Through these examples, the richness and continuity of Croatian written culture is demonstrated, as well as its connection with European cultural circles.

The catalogue is richly illustrated and provides contextual information about each presented work, including the historical circumstances of its creation, linguistic features and cultural significance. It was published in cooperation with the Gallery of Fine Arts in Osijek, the Museum Space in Zagreb and the Archaeological Museum of Istria in Pula.

This publication serves as a valuable source for understanding the development of Croatian literacy and its role in shaping national identity.
