Bajka
"Bajka", as time goes by, is revealed as one of the key and best places in Ćosić's prose, the originator of dystopian thinking in Serbian literature, which, a few decades later, was joined by Pekić's "1999" and Basara's "Ukleta zemlja".
"Bajka" is a fantastic dystopian novel by Dobrica Ćosić, set in the era of totalitarianism where freedoms have been abolished and all values have collapsed. Through allegorical images of destruction, absurdity and disintegration of human society, Ćosić explores threats to general and national progress, depicting "Anti-Time", general chaos and a grotesque world order without a future. The main character makes a deal with the underwater Moravian devil Anđam, who offers him immortality and the power of knowledge in exchange for the fate of a mortal, in order to check whether God exists in the real world.
