Rarely does a voice appear in literature so suddenly and completely unexpectedly, so original, so surprisingly uninhibited, and so important that it is necessary to stop and hear what it is telling us.
This is exactly the voice of Gabrijela Rukelj Kraškovič, who emerged from the space of deeply lived life experiences in order to bring a completely new definition of family in her prose writings with authentic and moving storytelling. While she speaks about love, obsessions and passions, all kinds of neglect, family heritage and illnesses and finally – about flowers, Rukelj Kraškovič simultaneously writes a moving elegy and a loud celebration of life. “Such a day is a bit festive”, says one of the author’s heroes from this manuscript in an old hit. And this book of records from the archive of a childhood, girlhood but also the protagonist’s present, is without a doubt a real small celebration for the reader.
