Priče iz Ilijade i Odiseje

Priče iz Ilijade i Odiseje

Homer

The book contains an introductory section on Homer, a section on the Iliad and the Odyssey, then nineteen stories each from the Iliad and the Odyssey, and finally, a glossary of lesser-known terms.

Economic, social and philological analysis show that both epics were created in the Mycenaean era in the 12th and 11th centuries BC in Asia Minor Greece in the area of Smyrna and Chios. Homer, who lived in that part of the Greek world and spoke his verses in front of the people in the squares or in the palaces of the powerful of that time, can be considered a writer of epics. Over time, the texts were influenced by many, who added or took away something from them. The basis of the Iliad is the myth of the ten-year Trojan War. The basic motif of the Iliad is the anger of the greatest Greek hero under Troy - Achilles. It is a warrior epic and in it everything depends on the will of the gods. The Odyssey is named after the main character Odysseus, king of Ithaca. After ten years spent in the Trojan War, Odysseus wanders the seas and experiences dangerous adventures for the next ten years by the will of the gods. His love for his country and his wife allowed him to return home. It is one of the most beautiful epics of family life. It is also considered the first adventure book in European literature.
