When Rose Gardner answers a call from the district court, she thinks it's a good thing she managed to get out of her job at the Department of Motor Vehicles for a morning.
However, despite a disastrous encounter with the new assistant district attorney, she is selected as a juror in a murder trial. As the trial progresses, through one of her visions, Rose realizes that there are missing pieces to the puzzle. But there is absolutely nothing she can do about it... or can she? As if things weren't already messed up enough, Rose's older sister insists that Rose stop seeing her new boyfriend, police detective Joe Simmons, and start dating other men. Rose can't fully commit to her relationship with Joe, but she doesn't intend to lose the best thing that's happened to her life.
