Paralelni svijet

Paralelni svijet

B. D. Benedict

Parallel World is considered Benedikt's boldest and most influential novel, a true pioneering work in which he first publicly presented his "theory of parallel dimensions" which would later become the backbone of his entire oeuvre.

The main character, Belgrade psychiatrist Dr. Aleksandar Vuković, accidentally discovers that behind the visible world there is a parallel, spiritual world that overlaps with ours at every moment. There live the souls of the deceased, angels, demons and “observers” – beings who govern karmic laws. Aleksandar, after the clinical death of a patient, begins to enter that world himself and discovers that historical events (Titanic, World War II, Chernobyl) are actually the result of interventions from a parallel dimension.

The book combines a fierce thriller (the secret services want to silence him) with visionary depictions of the invisible world: “mirror rooms” in which our lives are recorded, “karmic courts”, a hierarchy of angels and demons. Benedikt claims that he wrote everything based on the real experiences of people who have experienced clinical death and regressions.

The novel caused a sensation in 1993–1995, selling over 400,000 copies, and is now considered a cult work that opened the door to esoteric literature in the region. Many readers claim that the book literally changed their lives.
