The book describes how life began in the seas billions of years ago, from simple organisms to more complex forms. It traces evolution through geological periods: fish appear, then amphibians, reptiles and finally the first mammals. Special emphasis is placed on dinosaurs – their emergence, diversity and extinction. The book also shows how the climate and continents changed, and how these changes influenced the development of living beings.
