Zlatni ključić

Zlatni ključić

Aleksej N. Tolstoj

The novel represents Tolstoy's adaptation of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi; he got the idea for the novel as a child, when he was read only the first part of the book, so he invented the rest himself.

In Tolstoy's version, the main protagonist is a puppet named Buratino. The novel was very popular, and Buratino became one of the icons of Soviet popular culture. It has been screened several times.

"When he made the doll's eyes, they suddenly opened and stared at Karl. He didn't show anything that he was scared, but continued with his work. He also cut out the cheekbones, the chin and the nose, which suddenly began to stretch, until it became long and sharp. But as soon as Karlo made him a torso, Buratino started beating him on the head with his fists, pinching and tickling him."
