Gdje priče rastu

Grigor Vitez

A collection of poetry for children written by one of the most famous Croatian children's poets. With great tenderness and imagination, the author introduces children to the wonderful world of words, nature, animals, and everyday situations seen through t

The title suggests that stories and poems do not arise by themselves - they grow from imagination, feelings, observation of the world around us.

The poems in the collection exude cheerfulness, playfulness and gentle humor, while at the same time teaching children about values such as friendship, honesty, nature and love for the world. Vitez uses simple, rhythmic and easily remembered language, full of metaphors and images that stimulate children's imagination. Many poems talk about trees, birds, the moon, rain, the sun, but also about children's wishes and dreams.

The collection does not contain a classic narrative, but a series of poems that together form a rich, playful whole. Grigor Vitez was known for his ability to enter the world of children through poetry, not underestimating them, but celebrating them. His poems remain timeless, warm and instructive, and "Where Stories Grow" is a perfect example of his love for children and language.
