In dem Roman „Deceptive Lovers“ entwickelt der Autor das Motiv der Parallelwelten, wobei er in erster Linie die Antikriegsbotschaft im Blick hat, leider aber nicht die logische Kohärenz des Werkes.

Zwei Wissenschaftler, die den zivilen Charakter ihrer wissenschaftlichen Arbeit wahren wollen, schaffen es in strengster Geheimhaltung, Kontakt zu einer Parallelwelt herzustellen. Diese „Kopie“ der Erde ist natürlich perfekt. Dort arbeiten Doppelgänger der Helden und Heldinnen des Romans an derselben wissenschaftlichen Arbeit. Ihre Welt ist exakt dieselbe, aber paradoxerweise besser (ohne Kriege) und wissenschaftlich fortschrittlicher.
