Afera Mauricius
The novel "Mauricius Affair" by the German writer Jakob Wassermann is a psychological and social novel that deals with issues of justice, truth and moral responsibility.
The plot begins when a young man, Etzel Andergast, begins to suspect that a man named Leonhart Mauricius has been unjustly convicted of the murder of his wife. Etzel's father, the strict and respected state prosecutor Andergast, participated in the process that led to Mauricius's conviction. The young man decides to investigate the case and discover the real truth. During the investigation, Etzel uncovers many irregularities in the court proceedings, as well as the conflict between the law and real justice. The novel shows how prejudice, social position, and personal interests can influence court decisions. At the same time, a complex relationship develops between son and father, marked by misunderstanding and generational conflict.
