Zagor LU #156: Mračna bića
In an abandoned Mississippi swamp village, Zagor and Chico investigate missing settlers as threatening manifestations evoke fears of the restless dead.
Mračna bića concludes the adventure in Nuova Sulina, a settlement of European immigrants hidden in the swamps of the Mississippi delta. Pursuing Velasquez has brought Zagor and Chico to Louisiana, where deserted houses, signs of violence and missing inhabitants present a disturbing mystery.
Night descends upon the village, while a legend about long-dead conquistadors deepens the unease. The disappearance of the settlers and a threatening presence in the waterways turn the search for answers into a struggle against fear. Has the past truly returned, or do the frightening signs conceal another kind of danger?
Moreno Burattini combines a crime investigation with supernatural mystery. Isolation, difficult terrain and uncertainty about what lurks in the darkness steadily undermine any sense of safety. The boundary between human violence and legendary horror gives the story a tension beyond a conventional adventure pursuit.
Marco Torricelli depicts the swamp landscape, the village’s ghostly emptiness and the characters’ vulnerability at night. This issue resolves the two-part story begun in Ludens #155, Tajanstveno selo, and is best read after that opening instalment.
