Knjiga jednostavno objašnjava pojam softvera, vrstu programa (sistemski i aplikativni), kao i osnove programiranja. Poseban naglasak stavljen je na jezik BASIC, koji je u to vrijeme bio najdostupniji početnicima na kućnim računarima poput ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 i sličnih.
