Putovanja oko svijeta

Putovanja oko svijeta

James Cook

The book contains diaries from three voyages across the Pacific Ocean undertaken by the English navigator James Cook in the second half of the 18th century, discovering and exploring its coasts and making maps of newly discovered areas.

The first voyage (1768-1771) took him to the Pacific (Tahiti) and, later, to the South Pacific, where he searched for the mysterious continent of Terra Australis. On the second voyage (1772-1775), he went to the icy regions of the far south and visited some Pacific islands, which resolved the dilemmas surrounding Terra Australis. The third voyage (1776-1779) brought the discovery of the Hawaiian Islands. Here, James Cook, whose goal was "To go as far as man can go. To go further than any man has gone before me", lost his life.
