März 1950), Autor einer Reihe von Abenteuerromanen über Tarzan, den Sohn eines englischen Adligen, der im afrikanischen Regenwald aufwuchs, der erste davon ist Tarzan der Affen (Tarzan der Affen, 1914). Der große Erfolg machte Tarzan zu einer der berühmtesten Figuren der weltweiten Populärkultur des 20.
