Edgar Rice Burroughs
American writer (Chicago, IX. 1, 1875 - Encino, California, March 19, 1950), author of a series of adventure novels about Tarzan, the son of an English nobleman who grew up in the African rainforest, the first of which is Tarzan of the Apes (Tarzan of the Apes, 1914). The great success made Tarzan one of the most famous characters of the world's popular culture of the 20th century (translation into more than 50 languages, adaptations for comics, film, radio and television).
