Carolyn Jess-Cooke

Carolyn Jess-Cooke was born in 1978 in Northern Ireland, in Belfast, and right around the corner from her house was the birthplace of C. S. Lewis (author of the Chronicles of Narnia). She started writing as a child, and published her first book when she was 17 years old. Having graduated in English literature and classical languages ​​and literature at Queen's University in Belfast, she was awarded a scholarship for an MA in creative writing, during which she wrote the first draft of a poetry manuscript, which will then be published as her poetry debut under the title Inroads. Working as a piano teacher, pianist and photographer, she traveled the world and lived for a time in Sydney, Australia. Having completed her doctoral studies on the subject of Shakespeare in film, she enrolled in a postdoctoral study in the field of film at the University of Sunderland in 2005, and then advanced in creative writing at the University of Northumbria in 2009. She now devotes herself entirely to writing.

She has published four books dealing with Shakespeare and film, the poetry collection Inroads (2010), as well as the novel The Guardian Angel's Journal. This long-anticipated title and bestseller has been translated and published in Portugal, Serbia, France, Italy, Germany, China, the Netherlands, Brazil, Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Russia. Her second novel was published in 2012. He lives in England with his wife and three children, three chickens, two goldfish and way too many books.
