Život je drugdje

Život je drugdje

Milan Kundera

"Life is elsewhere" is an extraordinary portrait of the artist as a young man. Kundera's dissection of the creative process is both tender and merciless.

A vocal Kunderin novel centered on Jaromil, a sensitive young man, an unsuspecting poetic genius, whose emotional and sexual maturation is marked, on the one hand, by the obsessive love of his possessive mother, and on the other, by his first love and sexual experiences, which he will almost smugly weave into his verses. Such an intimate weave of Kunderi will serve as a suitable framework for a more universal questioning of the relationship between poetry and revolution, words and actions, verses and ideas. Being at the same time a parody and a satire of a time, the novel seems like a kind of meditation on the essential problems of man and his existence.
