The book represents a kind of introduction to the analysis and criticism of the media by Noam Chomsky, an author who has been studying the media for thirty years. This collection presents his works written on the subject from the 1980s to the present day. According to Chomsky, in developed democracies the people can be controlled most effectively by controlling their thoughts. The role of the media in the entire system of control and surveillance, which is managed by megacorporations, that is, private wealth, is crucial. The system of indoctrination is the one that teaches, shapes and dictates to people how they should behave, what they should think and represent, and in addition to the media, it is carried out by educational institutions: kindergartens, schools, universities and colleges. The second edition of the book was supplemented with the text Media control.
