Despite all the approval that my "Small liturgical dictionary" (Kleines liturgisches Wörterbuch) and "Pastoral-liturgical lexicon" (Pastoralliturgische Handlexikon, Freiburg, 1986) met with, I was always asked for a short and practical dictionary that would be easy to use in the sacristy and in the church choir, in the school classroom and in the meeting hall, bell ringers and ministers, singers and students, as well as students and all assistants in worship.
