Crvena Hrvatska i Dubrovnik

Nikola Zvonimir Bjelovučić

There are 39 black-and-white photographs attached at the end of the book.

From the introductory part of the book:

The ruins of the old church of St. Stjepan. All the doors of that old church are closed today. The only entrance is through the vestibule of the seminary. The ruins of the ten-century church stand sad and mournful, as if they are waiting in great sadness for some consolation. I would say that something important happened there in history. And it really is! Mr. Don Niko Gjivanović, city pastor and antiquities researcher, Mr. Ivo Scattolini, painter, and the writer of this work recently excavated the ground floor of the ruins of the church of St. Stjepan, with the permission of the late Bishop of Dubrovnik Dr. Marčelić, because it is the property of the bishop's seminary. The municipality of Dubrovnik gave us engineers to help our work on the technical side, and a few more workers, so we thank her for her kindness! Excavation began at the beginning of September, and the work was completed around mid-November 1927.
