Deborah Harkness

After finding the alchemical manuscript Ashmole 762, accomplished historian and mediocre witch Diana Bishop embarks on a journey through time with her newly married vampire husband Matthew Clairmont.

The destination of their time travel is Matthew's Old House in Oxford. The year is 1590 and Diana finds herself among all the most famous people of the time - from Walter Raleigh and William Shakespeare to Queen Elizabeth I herself. In addition to finding the missing pages in Ashmole 762, her main mission is to learn the arts of witchcraft, and at the end of the 16th century it shouldn't be difficult for her to find the right teacher. Nevertheless, Diana encounters numerous difficulties on her way, and one of the first challenges is certainly Matthew's father, Philippe de Clermont. But Diana's powers are much stronger than anyone expects, so on the way to the goal she overcomes numerous obstacles that an emancipated woman from the 21st century encounters in the Elizabethan era.
